Tree felling in Berkhamsted
There is a lot of tree work planned in Berkhamsted this summer. In a schedule published by Hertfordshire County Council, as well as seasonal pollarding and pruning, over 100 trees in Berkhamsted are sadly to be felled. A large proportion of these trees are identified as fraxinus excelsior – European ash. There’s not much detail given, but it seems likely that this is due to ash dieback, a fungal disease affecting ash trees. Current predictions suggest that this could result in the failure and loss of up to 70% of ash trees in the UK. To find out if the trees on your street are affected, search the list via the link below. There’s more information about the council’s tree policy and contact details on the HCC website.
