About the author

christopher green
Dr Christopher Green's professional career (1965-99) was as a geographer on the academic staff of the University of London. Since retiring he has worked as a consultant geoarchaeologist involved in pre-development investigations. He has also developed an interest in medieval and post-medieval metalwork and has become involved in research in this field and is now Chair of the Antique Metalware Society. Christopher also has a long involvement with the Geologists’ Association and has been Secretary, Treasurer and President. He is currently Treasurer of the Associations’ grant awarding fund. He is a Trustee and founding member of the Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust and formerly Treasurer and Chair of the Trust. Since 1999, he has been Chair of the St Albans Diocesan Advisory Committee and closer to home he is Chair of the Buildings Committee of the Parochial Church Council of the Parish of Great Berkhamsted St Peter – a role in which he has become immersed in the rich heritage of St Peter's Church.
