On Sundays
Serving in Church
Lay people in St Peter’s congregation are actively involved in the Sunday Eucharist, and we are especially keen to welcome young people to take part in our worship.
Altar servers assist the clergy by helping to prepare the church before the service, joining in the procession and the Gospel reading, and helping with the distribution of the communion bread and wine.
If you think you’d like to take part in this, speak to one of the clergy. They will give you full training and explain everything to you. Other servers will help you during the services so you won’t get lost!
Singing the Choir
We have a very active choir who help to lead the sung worship on Sunday mornings, as well as a monthly Evensong. The choir is a mixture of all ages, so there are lots of young people taking part as well as younger children and adults. We welcome new singers of any age who are keen to develop their music skills, and many of our young choir members work towards RSCM awards. Choral singing is especially good for helping students improve their skills at exam time.

Our Your Bell ringing team
Ringing church bells is a great way to get fit, develop new skills, amke new friends and try something really different! St Peter’s has a team of youth bell ringers, and young people can even take up bell ringing can as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award!
No experience of bell ringing is needed, as full training is given to new ringers “learning the ropes”. St Peter’s bells can be heard across the whole town for weddings, Christmas celebrations and Sunday services.
