Sukkot with SBJC

Last week, we remembered the people of Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester in our prayers. At a time when many have been distressed by hateful attacks on synagogues and mosques, let us be thankful for all who continue to work to strengthen inter-faith relations. On Saturday, a gathering of Jews, Muslims, Christians and well-wishers gathered in St Peter’s churchyard to share in the celebration of the Jewish Harvest, Sukkot. South Bucks Jewish Community erected a Sukkah, a symbolic tent commemorating the history of the Israelites in the wilderness, and decorated it with branches, fruit and messages of peace. Rabbi Neil Janes and SBJC were joined by Imam Monawar Hussain MBE, Rabbi Charley Baginsky, Cllr Steve Broadbent, Emma Reynolds MP, Greg Smith MP, Arif Hussain, Dr Arshad Jarral, Laura Kyrke-Smith MP and Sarah Green MP (not pictured) to celebrate Sukkot in the grounds of St Peter’s Church in Berkhamsted.

SBJC have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Parish of St Peter’s for our ongoing hospitality towards them.
