Pentecost
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, or Whit Sunday. In our reading from Acts, we will hear how the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles with “tongues, as of fire”, enabling them to speak in many different languages as they spread the Gospel. During the service, our music and prayer will ask for inspiration from the Spirit. We have a special invitation for the linguists among us – if you speak another language, you are invited to join in the Lord’s Prayer in a language of your choice. By doing this, we recall the events of Pentecost and are reminded of the love of God for the entire world. There will be some printed copies of the prayer available in French, German, Ukrainian, Welsh and other languages, if you would find that helpful.
