October news from Rectory Lane Cemetery
The Friends of St Peter’s have been celebrating their first Artisan Market on Berkhamsted High Street, raising much-needed funds by selling, plants, dried flowers and fresh honey from the beehives in Rectory Lane Cemetery. Following the sad closure of the Open Door and its community garden, the Cemetery volunteers have been giving the plants a new home in the grave gardens. With Remembrance Sunday approaching, there’s a wealth of historical information on the Cemetery website about our Commonwealth War Graves, including a trove of free educational resources for teachers to plan lessons around WWI. The Friends are always looking for new volunteers to help with the Wednesday afternoon gardening work parties, or to join the mowing team, or for people to “adopt” one of the many forgotten graves in Rectory Lane Cemetery. And it’s your last chance to vote for our beautiful Cemetery in the Green Flag People’s Choice Awards. Read all about it in the Rectory Lane Cemetery October newsletter:
