Listed Places of Worship Grant scheme
There has been some discussion about the Listed Places of Worship Grant scheme (LPWG), which was threatened with abolition by the government this week. At a Westminster Hall debate yesterday, Chris Bryant MP, the Minister for Media, Tourism and Creative Industries, announced that the LPWG scheme is to be extended for one year only, and capped at £23 million. Individual places of worship are now eligible for a maximum of £25,000. The scheme which was launched in 2001, provides grants covering the VAT on repairs costing more than £1000 to listed buildings used as places of worship. Read more:
