Fr Anthony Lathe
It is with sadness, but also with a sense of gratitude, that we announce that Fr Anthony Lathe will be stepping down from active ministry. He has been with us here in Berkhamsted for almost 20 years, having moved here after his retirement in 2006 to help out at St Peter’s
Anthony was ordained in 1961, after being at Lichfield Theological College. He was a curate at Selby Abbey in Yorkshire 1961-63, then worked for 20 years in rural Norfolk team ministry. He was in Norwich 1983-94, where he became Rural Dean and Honorary Canon of Norwich Cathedral. He worked in Sheringham in North Norfolk 1994-99 before retiring to live in Norwich 1999, and in 2006 he moved to Berkhamsted. As the church year comes to an end this Sunday, it seems an apposite moment to step down after 64 years in ministry. Anthony will still be around, offering his inspirational insights with the occasional Friday Thought, and through this season’s online Advent course. We give thanks for all that Anthony has offered to enrich our faith, and wish him well in his “second retirement”!
