80th Anniversary of VE Day
8 May 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and the United Kingdom will unite to celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe.
At 6:30pm, church bells across the country will be ringing out to mark the anniversary, and St Peter’s bells will be joining in that celebratory moment with their own ringing.
At 9.30pm, beacons and Lamp Lights of Peace will shine across the nation symbolising the enduring strength of our communities. Berkhamsted will join in this commemoration with a short Act of Remembrance and lighting of the town beacon in Rectory Lane Cemetery, with members of Berkhamsted Town Council and the Royal British Legion.
