Every year, Heritage Open Days offer the opportunity to tour heritage sites and see inside historic buildings across England & Wales that are not normally open to the public.

Here in Berkhamsted, there are the popular tours Berkhamsted Castle, Ashridge House, the BFI and Dacorum Heritage Museum Store, as well as heritage-themed walks along the Grand Junction Canal and through the Inns of Court WWI trenches.

Sunday 21 September: Tour St Peters Church

Here at St Peter’s, we’re offering a tour of the church and Court House, inviting visitors to discover the hidden history within this beautiful 13th-century church and the adjacent church hall.

 

 

Saturday 20 September: Rectory Lane Cemetery

The Friends of St Peter’s are offering a guided tour of Rectory Lane Cemetery, Berkhamsted’s Buried Builders, visiting the final resting places of the architects, builders and planners who left a lasting built legacy in Berkhamsted: chapels, schools, houses, pubs and more.

 

Exhibition: the Lost Buildings of Berkhamsted

A display by BLHMS in St Peter’s Church presenting the lost buildings of Berkhamsted, with fascinating photos of Berkhamsted’s grand houses, inns, industrial buildings and Roman remains that have been lost. Open daily 9am-4pm.
