The Church of St Peter Great Berkhamsted

Church Choir

At St Peter’s Berkhamsted we have a thriving church choir of children and adults to support our worship. We welcome new singers – and there are fantastic opportunities for children to develop musical skills. Please get in touch to find out more.

Services

St Peter’s Choir participates fully in the life of the church, and supports services throughout the year:

  • We sing every Sunday morning at the 9:30 Eucharist
  • Once a month (second Sunday of the month) we usually sing Choral Evensong
  • We also sing services at special times of the year such as  Christmas and Easter

Opportunities for children

By joining in with the other children in the choir, your son or daughter can develop skills that will be with them for life. It’s open to children from all backgrounds – it doesn’t matter which school they attend, and you don’t have to be church members.

  • FREE musical education for boys and girls
  • Sing glorious works of British & European church music and  experience a great English choral tradition
  • Take part in the Royal School of Church Music Chorister Awards programme
  • Develop transferable skills in reasoning and logic
  • Learn to work as a team
  • Make new friends
  • Get pocket money for attendance

St Peter’s Church is committed to safeguarding and everyone who works with children undergoes the required DBS checks.

International tours

St Peter’s Choir goes on international tours, giving adults and children the opportunity to sing in the great churches and cathedrals of mainland Europe.

In recent years, tours have included trips to Venice, Barcelona and Vienna. Where will we go next….?

RSCM Music Sunday 2023

On 11 June we are participating in RSCM Music Sunday! The  Royal School of Church Music is celebrating the work of church musicians across the UK, and here at St Peter’s we will hold a special Come & Sing Choral Evensong. Everyone is welcome, young and old, all voice parts! Music will include glorious works from the Anglican choral repertoire – Stanford’s wonderful setting in C of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C, and the magnificent Evening Hymn by Henry Balfour Gardiner. Please let us know if you plan to attend as we will be providing refreshments too.
