Cathedral Peregrines update
Last month, the whole country was shocked when the newly laid eggs of peregrine falcons nesting on the tower of St Albans Cathedral were apparently destroyed on purpose. A person is now assisting Hertfordshire Police with their enquiries. As a result of this incident, the Cathedral have made significant changes to their building security.
Since then, we are delighted to report that St Albans Cathedral’s resident peregrine falcons, Alban and Boudica, have laid two new eggs! The live video stream has been reinstated, and can be viewed on the Cathedral website.
The Dean of St Albans, the Very Revd Jo Kelly-Moore, has said:
“These extraordinary birds have once again reminded us of nature’s strength and beauty, We are heartened by their return, and we remain fully committed to their safety and wellbeing. This Cathedral has always been a place of sanctuary — for people and for wildlife alike.”
