We’re inviting all the community to join with us in a year of celebration!
The 800th celebrations are for all the town and will include events throughout the year with something for everyone with music, heritage, services, a fair plus a host of other activities.
Our church is your church. We’re opening our doors and inviting anyone in the local community to join us. If you’d like to hold an event in the church or grounds during the year – anything from an exhibition to dawn yoga to a musical soiree do get in touch.
Of course, St Peter’s is always open for reflection and prayer. Pop in anytime to light a candle, be still or explore this marvellous historic building in our town’s midst.
We’re also launching a special 800th heritage fund. We’d be delighted to accept contributions (coins/gifts and legacy donations) to maintain the upkeep of the church (which costs £700 a day to run) so that generations in 100, 200, 800 years will be able to enjoy the building.
There will be 800th events throughout the year with something for everyone with music, heritage, services, a fair, and more!
St Peter’s was built in 1222 just a after Magna Carta was signed. We’ve been through the Berkhamsted Castle Siege, the Crusades, and two World Wars.
