We hope you will forgive the naughty little April Fool posted on our Facebook page this week. We are happy to confirm that the church clock will not be replaced by a digital display, and that the Victorian clock mechanism (installed in 1838 by Thwaites & Read of Clerkenwell to celebrate the accession of Queen Victoria to the throne) remains intact. There was some truth in the post – there have been recent reports that teenagers are struggling to read analogue clock faces, as they have grown up with digital representation of the time. While we are keen to make the church accessible to all, there are perhaps limits.
