Choral Evensong for Sukkot | St Peter's Great Berkhamsted

The Church of St Peter Great Berkhamsted

Choral Evensong for Sukkot

A historic inter-faith service with the South Bucks Jewish Community to celebrate the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

The ceremony begins outside in the churchyard at 6pm, with a blessing for waving the Lulav (palm branches). followed by a joint Jewish-Christian service of Choral Evensong, with prayers and readings in Hebrew and English, and Anglican choral music: Smith Responses, Evening Canticles in C by Charles Villiers Stanford, and Litany to the Holy Spirit by Peter Hurford.

Whatever your faith, you are welcome at St Peter’s Berkhamsted. Wear warm clothes for the churchyard ceremony!
