WorkAid Chesham

WorkAid is a charity based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire empowering young people in Africa and the UK to help themselves by developing the skills and knowledge needed to find gainful employment or start their own business. They refurbish donated tools to a high standard and ship them to training centres and self-help organisations. They also support young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and those facing employment challenges to learn valuable life lessons and vocational skills.  In 2015 they received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. You can find out about their work at the web address below. Later this year, WorkAid will be participating in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, raising money for vocational training for young women in Uganda – watch this space in December!

In the meantime, you can visit their hardware shop in Chesham, which sells tools and hardware, gardening equipment, lawnmowers, electrical items, as well as craft materials, fabrics, haberdashery, sewing and knitting machines. They also accept donations of unwanted tools and equipment.  They’re open Thursday, Friday & Saturday 10am–4pm – drop by and browse!
