Lots of interesting questions this week about the ‘true cross’ as we have been exploring the story of St Helena. One of the children wanted to know if the crosses we had at school were part of the true cross and we talked about what had happened to the cross over the years since it was found. It is wonderful to listen to the questions and thoughts of the children, as they always have some deeper insights.
We have been taking part in the Great Big Green week with everyone marking the week by wearing green on Thursday. Children have been looking at recycling and how to be more sustainable in their lives. Some of the classes have been looking at how to swap plastic packaging for alternatives and we were surprised how much plastic is used in our everyday lives.
We ended the week with a visit from Electric Umbrella who are a diverse group of musicians that performed with the children. They also had singalongs at breaktime and Nursery and Year 1 had workshops exploring music together. Some of you may have seen them on Britain’s Got Talent as they were awarded the golden buzzer for a place in the semi finals but narrowly missed out for a spot in the finals.
