The Year 2 enjoyed their visit to St Peter’s Church to learn about the Jewish festival of Sukkot and see the Sukkah in the church grounds. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to as questions and learn more about the Jewish faith and celebrations. They found out during the week long festival many Jewish people eat their meals in the Sukkah and some will even sleep there. They also learnt about the Four Kinds while they pray. The Four Kinds is made of a palm frond, a willow branch, a myrtle branch and a etrog (citron). The children were so inspired when they returned, they all drew pictures of the Sukkah. We have shared a few of these pictures with you below – click on the image to see them.

We are looking forward to the half-term holiday as an opportunity to spend time with family and recharge, before returning on Monday 4 November. We have lots of events and activities to enjoy when we return, including our Nursery and Reception classes performing the Nativity and Christmas songs. We can’t wait to share more of what we have been doing after the holiday!
