Tim Hennessey steps down

After 10 years, Tim Hennessey has stepped down as a churchwarden of St Peter’s. At the APCM, Tim said, “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve St. Peters for these last 10 years. In that time I have supported 3 Rectors, overseen 2 interregna, welcomed the Queen, dealt with a plague which closed the church, and celebrated the 800th anniversary. I am now handing over to Carolynne and her very able deputies who, with the help of the congregation, will continue to support Fr Stuart.”  We are all very grateful to Tim for his decade of service!

St Peter’s has a long line of churchwardens – the list on display at the back of the church goes back to 1589, and here we find here many notable names from Berkhamsted’s history – Augustus Smith, the Hon. John Finch, Henry Lane, William Longman, Richard Arthur Norris, Robert Algernon Smith-Dorrien – even a Harry Potter! In more recent years, we may spot the familiar names of friends past and present. Today, we are thankful to have Carolynne Charman as our churchwarden, but for now, the post for a second warden is vacant.
