The Swan visit the Sukkah

The Swan Youth Project do wonderful work providing varied experiences to enrich the lives of the young people in our community. This week, year 12 pupils from Ashlyns School have been enjoying Life Skills classes learning to cook curry and taking part in Hallowe’en craft workshops with U3A. They also came across the road to St Peter’s churchyard to visit the Sukkah, which has been erected by SBJC. Rabbi Neil was there to welcome them and tell them all about the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

The Sukkah is a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles, an equivalent of Christian celebrations of Harvest). It is topped with branches and decorated with leaves and branches symbolic of harvest. Everyone is welcome to pop in for a look.
