St Peter’s on social media

It’s a new church year and an opportunity for new beginnings.

We’ve been using social media for several years now to complement our existing publicity and notices with online promotions that can be shared online with a wider audience. Some members of our congregation find this useful, but we recognise that many do not use social media at all. However, the aim of our online communications is not just to speak to our existing worshippers, but to reach people outside the walls of St Peter’s Church.

There’s a lot of change happening in the world of social media at the moment. Since 2011, we have enjoyed a healthy following on our Facebook page, and with over 2,100 followers, it helps to raise our profile in the local community. Far less successful has been Twitter/X; in the past 4 years, we have found that our tweets/posts usually generate zero ‘likes’ or ‘retweets’. Furthermore, the platform itself has now become politically contentious. With this in mind, it’s maybe time to move on and try out new social platforms. Here’s where you’ll find St Peter’s – maybe you’d like to try following us on these sites and help us to reach new people:

As with all new platforms, time will tell if they succeed, if they serve our mission to Berkhamsted, or if they simply fail. All we can do is try them out and see if we gain traction. We hope you’ll join us! (And if all of this seems utterly baffling, you will of course always find the latest parish news on our website, in your email and on the weekly paper pew sheet!)
