Partial eclipse
Berkhamsted (and indeed the rest of Western Europe) will experience a partial eclipse of the sun this month. Between 6:17pm and 8:06pm the moon will begin to move in front of the sun, with the eclipse reaching it peak of 91% coverage at 7:13pm. As it’s the evening, the sun will be in the west, so you’ll need to look roughly towards Tring. As always, observers are reminded not to look directly at the sun or to use telescopes or binoculars, or risk permanent retina damage. Find out more from BBC Sky at Night Magazine:
