Festival of Light – volunteers wanted

The Festival of Light is Berkhamsted’s pre-Christmas street fair with stalls and entertainments all down Berkhamsted High Street. St Peter’s Church will be open to the public, and we will decorate the church with thousands of candles and welcome literally thousands of visitors through the doors. This is a wonderful outreach opportunity for St Peter’s, when we remind everyone that this church is open to all, and we extend an invitation to our Christmas services. It’s also an opportunity to bring in much-needed donations!

We are looking for volunteers – will you help this year? There are many different roles – climbing ladders, and if you haven’t got a head for heights we have lots of jobs for ground-level candle lighters, welcomers, donation bucket holders and general helpers. There will be a roster, so everyone will have a time slot and you won’t be asked to do too much. Note that this year, we have decided not to do the mulled wine/chocolate stalls, in order to reduce the workload for everyone (but maybe we’ll revive this some other time).

Do please come and lend a hand – it’s fun and rewarding, and it really helps to promote St Peter’s presence in the community. Young people especially welcome! This year’s festival impresario Martin Moore invites you to a very short briefing after this Sunday morning’s service. If you’d like to take part, you can also drop him an email:
