Bike ‘n Hike
St Peter’s has just received £856.50 from the Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust, which is half the money raised at the Bike ‘n Hike event in September (the Trust uses the other half, plus the gift aid, to distribute in grants). This is a great result; thank you, thank you, to the riders and walkers, to all who sponsored them, and to the helpers at the church on the day!
In total, the participating churches across the two counties raised £98,931 (including Gift Aid). The government’s Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme element will add a further £2,000, meaning that this year’s Bike ‘n’ Hike has now broken the £100,000 barrier! Of the five churches raising over £2,000, two are from the Berkhamsted Deanery: St Mary’s Northchurch and St Mary’s Bletsoe. Well done to these two churches – but it should be mentioned that St Peter’s Berkhamsted was only £261 behind the leaders!
