A Message from Churchwarden Tim

We have a problem!
For the Church to function properly we need good governance and sound finances. The two key roles that have enabled this are the PCC Secretary and Honorary Treasurer. For the first time in my 40 years here at St. Peters, both these post are now vacant.
The result is that there is a much greater work load on our Rector.
Also, for the first time in over half a century we have no Curate. Those of you who remember Fr Simon, Fr Tom and their predecessors will know just how much they did to share the burden of administration and pastoral care. Without this support the load on Fr Stuart is further increased.
We are therefore in desperate need of two people to volunteer some of their time to assist in this crisis.
Carolynne and I are asking you today to do three things:
- Examine your own commitments and judge if you have the capacity to help.
- If you feel you can’t undertake one of these roles, then think if you know someone who may.
- Pray that we find a solution and, that between us we, not only continue to support all those who are already working to run our church smoothly and effectively, but also find the additional help we need to undertake these two important functions so that we can avert this crisis.
Stop Press
There is a possibility that we may engage the services of a bookkeeper. This would be a paid position, but would support the parish by keeping our finances in good order and potentially reduce the burden of a parish treasurer. Nevertheless, we still ask everyone to consider if they could take on the treasurer role – please speak to the churchwardens if you think you could help.
