10 years ago: the Royal Visit
10 years ago this month, on 6 May 2016, we welcomed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to Berkhamsted, and into St Peter’s Church. The Queen was greeted by the Rector, Fr Tim Pilkington, David Pearce, churchwardens Tim Hennessey and Mark Grego, and Tilly Armstrong presented a floral posy to Her Majesty. In a special ceremony, the Queen unveiled the Coat of Arms of Elizabeth I, recently been restored by the Friends of St Peter’s. A joint choir of singers from St Peter’s Church and the Berkhamsted School sang choral pieces, including Vivaldi’s Gloria and Charles Wood’s O Thou the Central Orb, and a new work by our Director of Music, Adrian Davis, O Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.
