Dear Friends

How can I give to St Peter’s when there is no church collection?
We are all coping with strange and difficult times and St Peter’s finances is without doubt one of the last things on your minds. But it really is important for me to say, on behalf of everyone who worships at St Peter’s, THANK YOU for all that you donate to the church. Overall St Peter’s finances finished 2019 in reasonable shape but in current circumstances it’s hard to say how 2020 will turn out. If you donate to St Peter’s by bank Standing Order or the Parish Giving Scheme then your regular donations will continue automatically. But I want to speak especially to you if you give your donations by putting money in the collection plate on Sunday mornings. We can’t do this while services are suspended. We all hope it won’t be long before we can resume normal worship, but in the meantime I want to ask if you would consider continuing your donations in other ways.

If you use the Internet or have a “smart phone” then two straightforward ways to continue giving to St Peter’s are on the St Peter’s website, using either your computer or your phone. Go to the main screen (the “home page”) and click on “Support us” at the top right of the screen. You will see a subheading “Donate Online”. Click on that and you will find easy links to the PayPal service.
Alternatively to can donate to St Petr’s by text message. Here is what you do. Use your mobile phone to text STPTR followed by the amount you want to give, to 70085. The text will be charged at your normal network rate. For example if you want to give £5 to St Peters text “STPTR 5” to 70085. If you want to give £12, text “STPTR 12” to 70085. Your donation will appear on your mobile phone bill.

Like putting money in the collection plate, you can vary the amount you give and when you give – these methods don’t commit you to a regular amount unless you want to.
If you do not use the Internet or smart phone the best way to donate until normal services resume is to send a cheque to the Parish Office. The address is at the top of this letter. For obvious reasons, please don’t leave cash in the church except in secure donation boxes.

What happened to your Berkhamsted?
Because of Government restrictions to combat the corona virus it has become impossible to deliver the parish magazine. Therefore the magazine team has decided not to print the magazine for April/May, and I hope the magazine will be published on the St Peter’s website instead. I will confirm this to you when the position is clearer. We don’t yet know when we will be able to resume printing the magazine. Many of you have paid for a year’s subscription and you will of course receive full credit for missed editions.
Thank you or all your support to St Peter’s and most important of all – stay safe and keep well.

With my best wishes
