Advent is the time before Christmas and is a time of anticipation. It is celebrated with beautiful liturgy and music, and prepares us for the coming of Christ.
Worship during Advent is quiet and reflective but also inspiring as we look forward to Christmas.
Some of the most beautiful music of the Christian year includes Advent carols and hymns such as O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Lo! He Comes With Clouds Descending. On Advent Sunday (the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day) the choir sings seasonal anthems by candelight - a reminder of God's promise to all people shining like a light in the darkness.
Join us at St Peter's for the holy season of Advent as we prepare for the coming of Our Lord at Christmas. Everyone is welcome at our services.
Services for Advent will be listed here nearer the time.

Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before December 25 and runs right up to Christmas eve. From the Latin word Adventus, Advent means "coming" and is the season we observe in preparation for Christmas. The season of Advent serves as a reminder both of the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting of Christians for Christ's return.
