St Cecilia Concert: St Peter’s Choir

SECOND SUNDAY BEFORE ADVENT                  18 November 2007

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son was revealed to destroy the works of the devil and to make us the children of God and heirs of eternal life: grant that we, having this hope, may purify ourselves even as he is pure; that when he shall appear in power and great glory we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.      AMEN

Readings:  Malachi 4:1-2a        2 Thessalonians 3:6-13    Luke 21:5-19

Post Communion: Gracious Lord, in this holy sacrament you give substance to our hope:  bring us at the last to that fullness of life for which we long;  through Jesus Christ our Saviour   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the diocese of Waiapu, New Zealand, and Bishop John Bluck

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for all the schools in the parish;  their staff,  pupils and governors;  and our special responsibilities towards Victoria First School and Thomas Coram Middle School.

for the Children’s Society

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Muriel Norman, Harry Arnfield, Martin Judd, Betty Thorne, Tom Hible, Nigel Franklin, Mattie Franklin, Tom Montague, Arthur Williams, Joan Morris, Rene Dunford
