THE TWENTIETH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY             21 October 2007

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  God, the giver of life, whose Holy Spirit wells up within your Church: by the Spirit’s gifts equip us to live the gospel of Christ and make us eager to do your will, that we may share with the whole creation the joys of eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.   AMEN

Readings:  Genesis 32: 22-31     2 Timothy 3:14 -4:5 Luke 18: 1-8

Post Communion:  God our Father, whose Son, the light unfailing, has come from heaven to deliver the world from the darkness of ignorance: let these holy mysteries open the eyes of our understanding that we may know the way of life, and walk in it without stumbling; through Jesus Christ our Lord.   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain and Bishop Carlos López Lozano

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for all the schools in the parish;  their staff,  pupils and governors; and our special responsibilities towards Victoria First School and Thomas Coram Middle School

for the Children’s Society

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Muriel Norman, Harry Arnfield, Martin Judd, Betty Thorne, Tom Hible, Nigel Franklin, Tom Montague, Pam Glanville, Arthur Williams; and with thanksgiving Baby Alex Wright

and at his anniversary pray for:  Arthur Lander

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
