 HARVEST THANKSGIVING                                              7 October 2007

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Eternal God, you crown the year with your goodness and you give us the fruits of the earth in their season:  grant that we may use them to your glory, for the relief of those in need and for our own well-being; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever   AMEN

Readings:  Deuteronomy 26: 1-11        Philippians 4: 4-9         John 6: 25 -35

Post Communion:  Lord of the harvest, with joy we have offered thanksgiving for your love in creation and have shared in the bread and the wine of the kingdom: by your grace plant within us a reverence for all that you give us and make us generous and wise stewards of the good things we enjoy; through Jesus Christ our Lord   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Diocese of Accra, West Africa and Bishop Ofei Akrofi

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Muriel Norman, Harry Arnfield, Brenda Quarmby, Baby Alex Wright, Betty Thorne, Tom Hible, Nigel Franklin, Tom Montague, Pam Glanville

for those who have died recently:  George Allen
