NINTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY                                     5 August 2007

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Almighty God, who sent your Holy Spirit to be the life and light of your Church:  open our hearts to the riches of your grace, that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love and joy and peace;   through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever   AMEN

Readings:  Eccl. 1:2, 12-14; 2: 18-23         Col. 3:1-11         Luke 12:13-21

Post Communion:  Holy Father, who gathered us here around the table of your Son to share this meal with the whole household of God:  in that new world where you reveal the fullness of your peace, gather people of every race and language to share in the eternal banquet of Jesus Christ our Lord.  AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the diocese of Rochester, USA, and Bishop Jack McKelvey

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for the Mothers’ Union throughout the world remembering especially its founder, Mary Sumner

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Muriel Norman, Brenda Quarmby, Baby Alex Wright, Betty Thorne, Priscilla Coombs, Penny Jones, Tom Hible, Lorna Sargaison

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
Copies of recent sermons preached at St Peter’s are available at St Peter’s on the church tables and also at http://stpetersberkhamsted.org.uk
