 PENTECOST                                                                      27 May 2007

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  God, who as at this time taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit:  grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgement in all things and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;  through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever   AMEN

Readings:  Acts 2:1-21   Romans 8:14-17    John 14:8-17

Post Communion:  Faithful God, who fulfilled the promises of Easter by sending us your Holy Spirit and opening to every race and nation the way of life eternal: open our lips by your Spirit, that every tongue may tell of your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Bishop Frederick Hiltz and Suffragan Bishop Susan Moxley

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for our Church Crèches, Sunday Schools, Pathfinder and Young People’s Fellowship groups and for Little Fishes & Chuckles toddler groups, for all who attend them and for all who help to run them

for the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (and especially Andrew and Janice Proud working in Addis Ababa)

for Jack Ewan Harman, Ella Madeleine Harris and Isobel Frances Harris who are being baptised this morning at St Peter’s and for their parents & godparents

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Muriel Norman, Christina Billington, Angela Morris, Ted Lewis, Baby Alex Wright, Mary Swallow, Betty Thorne

for those who have died recently:  Bunny Chapuis  (Service Thursday see back page)

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives on South side of Shootersway (from Cross Oak Road) & roads off (not Oakwood)

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
Copies of recent sermons preached at St Peter’s are available at St Peter’s on the church tables and also at http://stpetersberkhamsted.org.uk
