NINETEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY             22 October 2006

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  O God, forasmuch as without you we are not able to please you; mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ  your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever   AMEN

Readings:  Isaiah 53: 4-end      Hebrews 5:1-10     Mark 10:35-45

Post Communion:  Holy and blessed God, you have fed us with the body and blood of your Son and filled us with your Holy Spirit: may we honour you, not only with our lips but in lives dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ our Lord  AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for The Church of the Province of West Africa and Archbishop Justice Akrofi

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for our Church Crèches, Sunday Schools, Pathfinder and Young People’s Fellowship groups and for Little Fishes & Chuckles toddler groups, for all who attend them and for all who help to run them

for the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (and especially Andrew and Janice Proud working in Addis Ababa)

for Oliver James Rupert Cranston & Isabelle Grace Cranston being baptised at St Peter’s today and for their parents and godparents

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, Judith Hill, Angela Morris, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman, Joan Cook, Christina Billington, Ted Lewis, Thea Chambers, Jenny Wells

for those who have died recently:  Christine Horobin

and at his anniversary pray for: Arthur Lander

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in (Upper) Cross Oak Road (from Anglefield) + The Oaks (LHS going up)
