TWELFTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY                    3 September 2006

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.
Collect:  Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray and to give more than either we desire or deserve:  pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit  one God now and for ever   AMEN
Readings
:  Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9   James 1:17-end   Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23
Post Communion
:  God of all mercy, in this Eucharist you have set aside our sins and given us your healing:  grant that we who are made whole in Christ may bring that healing to this broken world, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Church of the Province of Southern Africa and Archbishop Njongonkulu of Ndungane

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for Vonda Louise Herbert being baptised at All Saints’ today and for her parents and godparents

for Mark Lonsdale and Rebecca Hill, who are getting married at St Peter’s later this week

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, Judith Hill, Angela Morris, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman, Joan Cook, Brenda Quarmby, Jenny Cracknell

for those who have died recently: Emrys Jones

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Peter Currie, Marjorie Kendall, Nancy Agate

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives on the south side of Shrublands Road

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
