10.00am Holy Communion

(The Revd

Barrie Allcott)

THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY                           2 July 2006

We welcome all who worship here today.  If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.  We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.  Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.  If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and have  sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts whereby we call you Father:  give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that we and all creation may be brought to the glorious liberty of the children of God;  through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever   AMEN

Readings:   Wisdom of Solomon 1:13-15; 2:23-24  2 Corinthians 8:7-end
                   Mark 5:21-end

Post Communion:  O God, whose beauty is beyond our imagining and whose power we cannot comprehend:  show us your glory as far as we can grasp it, and shield us from knowing more than we can bear until we may look upon you without fear;  through Jesus Christ our Saviour   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for  the Church of Nigeria and Archbishop Peter Akinola

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, Judith Hill, Brenda Quarmby, Jenny Cracknell, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman, Joan Cook

for those who have died recently:  Matt Lovell

and at their anniversaries pray for Hamish Douglas, Bernard Kempster, Florence Conway and Karen Breakwell

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.
