THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER                                7 May 2006

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life:  raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.      AMEN

Readings:  Acts 4:5-12     1 John 3: 6-end     John 10:11-18

Post Communion:  Merciful Father, you gave your Son Jesus Christ to be the good shepherd, and in his love for us to lay down his life and rise again:  keep us always under his protection, and give us grace to follow in his steps;  through Jesus Christ our Lord.     AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Church of Kenya and Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for Francesca Gurdon, Olivia Black, Jordan Addy, Nasya Addy, Katya Khazaneh, Francesca Booth, Robert Pain and Claire Below being prepared for their First Communion at Pentecost

for Liam Mc Grath and Amanda Gavan being married at St Peter’s this week.

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, Cimmy G. Delglyn, Judith Hill, Brenda Quarmby, Jenny Cracknell, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman

for those who have died recently:  Liz Baxendale

and at their anniversaries pray for: Grace Bisset, Margaret Naisbett, Jean Meyer, Margaret Barnard

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
