THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT                                     2 April 2006

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Most merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ delivered and saved the world:  grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross we may triumph in the power of his victory;  through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.      AMEN

Readings:  Jeremiah 31: 31-34     Hebrews 5: 5-10     John 12: 20-33

Post Communion:  Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us that what we do for the least of our brothers and sisters we do also for you:  give us the will to be the servant of others as you were the servant of all, and gave up your life and died for us, but are alive and reign, now and for ever.      AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Church of England and Archbishop Rowan Williams

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care in many ways

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, May Kempster, Cimmy G. Delglyn, Brenda Quarmby, Jenny Cracknell, Angela Morris, Liz Baxendale, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman.

for those who have died recently:

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Doris Morris, Eleanor Morris, Joan Margaret Grace, Rene Bayliss

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in Princes Close & Dukes Way

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
Copies of the Sermon given by Fr Michael at St Peter’s last Sunday [26th] are available on the St Peter’s tables and also at http:stpetersberkhamsted.org.uk
