 MOTHERING SUNDAY                                                  26 March 2006
with presentation of Bibles to the First Communion Children at main services

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself:  strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal;  through Jesus Christ your son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.    AMEN

Readings:  1 Samuel 1:20-end      Colossians 3:12-17      Luke 2:33-35

Post Communion:  Loving God, as a mother feeds her children at the breast you feed us in this sacrament with the food and drink of eternal life:  help us who have tasted your goodness to grow in grace within the household of faith;  through Jesus Christ our Lord.      AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for the Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean and the Archbishop Remi Rabenirina

for our Diocese of St Albans, Christopher our Bishop and for all his staff

for our Church Crèches, Sunday Schools, Pathfinder and Young People’s Fellowship groups and for Little Fishes & Chuckles toddler groups, for all who attend them and for all who help to run them

for the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (and especially Andrew and Janice Proud working in Addis Ababa)

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved, and amongst the sick for Douglas Hartley, May Kempster, Cimmy G. Delglyn, Christina Billington, Angela Morris, Liz Baxendale, Phil Day, Fred Monnington, Muriel Norman.

for those who have died recently:

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Maureen Coleman, Albert King, Gertrude Barker, Richard Wiggins, Stan Dunford, Peter Brown, Pearl Nobb

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for all who live in Bridgewater Rd, 111-168
