THE SUNDAY NEXT BEFORE LENT                          6 February 2005

Eucharistic Prayer F or G may be used at Holy Communion Services today

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Holy God, you know the disorder of our sinful lives:  set straight our crooked hearts, and bend our wills to love your goodness and your glory in Jesus Christ our Lord.   AMEN

Readings:  Exodus 24: 12-18     2 Peter 1: 16-21     Matthew 17: 1-9

Post Communion:  Holy God, we see your glory in the face of Jesus Christ:  may we who are partakers at his table reflect his life in word and deed, that all the world may know his power to change and save.   This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.      AMEN

We pray this week

for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans

for our Churchwardens and PCC as they try to discern God’s plan for the future of the parish and plans for the appointment of a new Rector

for the Centre for the elderly at Gossoms End, for the Hospice of St Francis and for the Iain Rennie Hospice at home, for those who need care and for those who provide care many ways

for all who are preparing for Confirmation

for Jessica Rose McLeish, Max Alexander McLeish & Eva May McLeish being baptised at All Saints’ today and for their parents and godparents

for Graham Rule and Nicola Gifford being married at St Peter’s this week

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;  and amongst the sick for Michael Taylor, Pamela Christmas, Martin Judd, Judith Hill, Brenda Quarmby, Harry Arnfield, Jenny Cracknell, Christine Tucker, Joanne Smith, Bob Essery, Alan Cox, Douglas Hartley, Giles Higgins, Geoff Dell, Edna Campkin,

for those who have died recently:  Elsie Delbridge, Grace  Kessly

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Victor Dell, Baby Ellen Dipper, Jack Thorne, Peter Chambers, Colin Ranscombe, Jim Lawrenson

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.
