THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY                      30 January 2005

Eucharistic Prayer B may be used at Holy Communion Services today

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  God of heaven, you send the Gospel to the ends of the earth and your messengers to every nation:  send your Holy Spirit to transform us by the good news of everlasting life in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Readings:  1 Kings 17:8-16     1 Corinthians 1: 18-end     John 2: 1-11

Post Communion:  Generous Lord, in word and Eucharist we have proclaimed the mystery of your love:  help us so to live out our days that we may be signs of your wonders in the world; through Jesus Christ our Saviour.   .      AMEN

We pray this week

for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans

for our Churchwardens and PCC as they try to discern God’s plan for the future of the parish and plans for the appointment of a new Rector

for all who are afflicted by leprosy and, on World Leprosy Day, for the work of The Leprosy Mission

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;  and amongst the sick for Michael Taylor, Pamela Christmas, Martin Judd, Judith Hill, Jenny Cracknell, Christine Tucker, Joanne Smith, Bob Essery, Alan Cox, Douglas Hartley, Giles Higgins

for those who have died recently:

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Eily Smalley, Bruce Da Cunha

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in Kitsbury Rd (below Charles St)

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.

Notes & Notices

LENT MEETINGS
There will be town wide Lent groups starting in the week commencing Monday 14 February and finishing in the week commencing Monday 14 March.
The details are now on the church notice board.  There are courses either at 1.45pm or 8.00pm each weekday Monday to Thursday.   In our parish we are offering Wednesday evenings in the Court House, led by members of our congregations, commencing with coffee at 7.45pm and ending with Compline.   Like all the town groups, the sessions will be based around the York Courses for Lent 2005 - these consist of five taped talks under the title of Better Together.  Contributors include the Archbishop of York, the Abbot of Ampleforth and Nicky Gumbel of Holy Trinity, Brompton.

THE PREPARATION COURSE FOR CHILDREN SEEKING TO BE ADMITTED TO COMMUNION BEFORE CONFIRMATION has, unfortunately, been cancelled for this year because insufficient numbers have come forward to make it viable.   It is hoped to run the course next year and an invitation will be made to candidates in the late autumn.

PARISH REPORT will be produced in early March.   Individual reports by 13 Feb. please.
