THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER EASTER    18 April 2004

Eucharistic Prayer A may be used at Holy Communion Services today

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  Risen Christ, for whom no door is locked, no entrance barred:  open the doors of our hearts, that we may seek the good of others and walk the joyful road of sacrifice and peace, to the praise of God the Father.   AMEN

Readings:  Acts 15:27-32      Revelation 1:4-8      John 20:19-end

Post Communion:  Lord God our Father; through our Saviour Jesus Christ you have assured your children of eternal life and in baptism have made us one with him:  deliver us from the death of sin and raise us to new life in your love, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.   AMEN

We pray this week

for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans

for all the schools in the parish;  their staff,  pupils and governors;  and our special responsibilities towards Victoria First School and Thomas Coram Middle School.

for the work of Dacorum Rent Aid

for Thomas Matthew Veall being baptised today at St Peter’s and for his parents and godparents

for Julie Clarke, David Fettes, Paul Jullien, Natasha Macleod, Michael Newman, David Rutherford & Karen Rutherford  who are preparing for Confirmation later this month

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;  and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Michael Taylor, Brenda Quarmby, Pamela Christmas, Mavis Haile, Rod Cottrell, Alice Chambers, Martin Judd, Rebecca Lee

for those who have died recently:  David Veall

and at their anniversaries pray for:  Gladys Fenner, Annie Cook

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in Ridgeway

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Fr Mark’s sermons at St Peter’s are normally available from the church table.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.

SECURITY at our two churches  If you are passing either church during the day do please go in at any time and especially in a holiday period, in the lunch hour or in the late afternoon, when the open door can welcome our less well-intentioned visitors.   Thank you.
