PARISH OF BERKHAMSTED St
Peter’s with All Saints’ |
news for pews

HOLY INNOCENTS 28 December 2003
Eucharistic Prayer B may be used at Holy Communion Services today
We welcome all who worship here today. If you are a newcomer please speak to one
of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.
We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on
the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the
welcomers. Communicant members of all
Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion. If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail
for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.
Collect: Heavenly Father, whose children suffered at the hands of Herod,
though they had done no wrong: by
suffering of your Son and by the innocence of our lives frustrate all evil
designs and establish your reign of justice and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who
is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
for ever. AMEN
Readings: Jeremiah 31:15-17 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 Matthew 2:13-18
Post Communion: Lord Jesus Christ, in your humility you have
stooped to share our human life with the most defenceless of your
children: may we who have received
these gifts of your passion rejoice in celebrating the witness of the Holy
Innocents to the purity of your sacrifice made once for all upon the
cross; for you are alive and reign, now
and for ever. AMEN
We pray this week
for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and
Richard his suffragans
for our Church
Crèches, Sunday Schools, Pathfinder and Young People’s Fellowship groups and
for Little Fishes & Chuckles toddler groups, for all who attend them and
for all who help to run them
for
the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (and especially Andrew and
Janice Proud working in Addis Ababa)
for
Philip Wright and Emma Britton who are being married at All Saints’ this
week
for
the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;
and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Jenny Luckhurst, Michael Taylor,
Christina Billington, Pat Large, Jeffrey Davies, David Jackson, Pamela
Christmas, Christine Tucker
for
those who have died recently:
and

Cutler, Lily Stacey, Henry Earl
We give
thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin
Mary and St Peter our patron.
At All Saints’ the weekly
prayers are for everyone who lives in (Upper) Cross Oak Rd (from Greenway) +

THANK YOU FOR A RICH VARIETY OF MINISTRY
Thank you to all those who do so much for our two
churches throughout the year.
Thank you if you volunteer time and talents to sit on committee or to perform
rota duties.
Thank you if your skills quietly maintain the fabric of our buildings and
their many contents – including the heating.
Thank you if you look after choir or clergy vestments or polish the silver or
brass.
Thank you if you ring bells, create music, arrange flowers,
assemble the crib or decorate the Christmas tree
Thank you if you CLEAN (but it would be wonderful to be able to thank more of you for this!)
Thank you if you are quietly keeping something in order without recognition.
And very special thanks for our valuable staff of retired Clergy and
