HOLY CROSS DAY 14 September 2003
Eucharistic Prayer F or G may be used at Holy Communion Services
today
We welcome all who worship here today. If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to
one of the clergy. We invite you to
complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door
of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers. Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy
Communion. If you are not receiving
Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the
minister knows.
Collect: Almighty God who in the passion of your blessed Son made an instrument of painful death to be for us the means of life and peace: grant us so to glory in the cross of Christ that we may gladly suffer for his sake; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN
Readings: Numbers 21.4-9 Philippians 2.6-11
John 3.13-17
Post Communion: Faithful God, whose son
bore our sins in his body on the tree and gave us this sacrament to show forth
his death until he comes: give us grace
to glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our
life and our hope, who reigns as Lord, now and for ever. AMEN
We pray this week
for Christopher our
Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans
for Sister Diana of the Sisters of the Love of God,
for Geoffrey Tristram of the Society of St John the Evangelist and all those
who are living in a Religious Community
for the work of the Church Army
for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved; and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Jenny
Luckhurst, Michael Taylor, Vera Pullen, Susan Kirkby, Ann Gibb, Pat Large,
