news for
pews
THE ELEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY 31 August 2003
We welcome all who worship here today. If you are a newcomer please speak to one
of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.
We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on
the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the
welcomers. Communicant members of all
Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion. If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail
for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.
Collect: God of glory, the end of our searching, help
us to lay aside all that prevents us from seeking your kingdom, and to give all
that we have to gain the pearl beyond all price, through our Saviour Jesus
Christ. AMEN
Readings:
Deuteronomy 4.1, 2, 6-9 James
1.17-27 Mark 7.1-8, 14-15, 21-23
Post Communion: Lord of
all mercy, we your faithful people have celebrated that one true sacrifice
which takes away our sins and brings pardon and peace: by our communion keep us firm on the
foundation of the gospel and preserve us from all sin: through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
We pray this week
for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard
his suffragans
for all teachers and children
beginning a new school year this week
for the lonely, the anxious,
the bereaved; and amongst the sick for
Judith Hill, Jenny Luckhurst, Michael Taylor, Vera Pullen, Christina
Billington, Ann Gibb, Pat Large, Rhoda Janes, Sylvia Grottick
for those who have died
recently: Vera Latham
and at their anniversaries pray
for: Joan Sheldon, Richard Doyle, Neil
Cowan, Monica Farmery, Val Snell, Kathleen Fincham
We give thanks for our
communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter
our patron.
