On 6th May 2016, we welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to Berkhamsted to unveil a newly-restored Coat of Arms of Elizabeth I which hangs in St Peter's Church. A new board has been added to the Arms to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. The Queen then went on to visit the Berkhamsted School for a celebration of their 475th anniversary. Berkhamsted School was founded in 1541 by Dean Incent, a member of the Berkhamsted Parish who was Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral 1540-45. The event was a occasion of great celebration and a tremendous honour for the whole town.
We are most grateful to the people of Berkhamsted and to local businesses who have kindly allowed us to post their photos here. Special thanks are due to:
Sophie Clayton of Bespoke Light Up Letters, Jennifer Hill, Yvonne Larkins, Robin McMorran, Grace Jeavons, Jo Banfield Shaw, Kiran Wade, the King's Arms, Seraphina, the Rising Sun
There is also a set of official photos taken inside the Church during the unveiling ceremony.
